Resting

Dana Nelson was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at the General Hospital on November 3, 1969 to her parents, Rosette and Menthoul Nelson.  On January 21st, 1977, Dana (at the age of 7) along with her bothers (Desly and Rolin), immigrated to the United States from Haiti to Newark, New Jersey.

There, she attended Sacred Heart School of Vailsburg, and later, Vailsburg High School.  Post graduation, she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

To everyone, Dana was well-known to the community as a selfless individual who loved helping others. She always tried her best in helping anyone in any way that she could, regardless of the circumstances.  Dana was a one-of-a-kind individual and a truly loving and caring person.  She enjoyed speaking the words of God to anyone who she encountered. She was a blessing to everyone whom she met.

Dana was one of 6 children of the Nelson family which comprised of 3 boys and 3 girls. Dana was also a single mother with 4 beautiful children (Alexzandra, Terence, Swan, and Skye).  She was the best mother that any child could ever have.  She cherished each and every one dearly and everyday was a new day.

Dana was a very hard worker.  She worked very long hours to support her family. During her career, she held a variety of jobs.  She worked in the transportation business for over 15 years.  At one point, she even held a CDL license that allowed her to drive a tractor trailer.  As you can see, nothing held Dana back. She was a jack of all trades.

She loved to do interior design and decoration.  She loved to shop, cook new recipes, and listen to gospel music.

On the night of January 23rd, just after 9:00 pm, she transitioned to be with the Lord due to a fatal car incident.  Dana passed away as the “Good Samaritan,” doing what she loved best, helping someone in need.
